2.4m food poisoning cases in the UK annually

Reported in The Guardian, The Food Standards Agency, have estimated that there are 2.4m cases of food poisoning in the UK each year, double the figure in 2009. This increase is attributed to better research which provides a more accurate assessment of the role of food in the spread of Infectious Intestinal Diseases (IID). Norovirus, is a type of IDD, and it is estimated that 380,000 cases of the condition are linked to food in the UK annually.
