Rollercoaster Victims set to sue for £2million

Two victims of the Smiler rollercoaster ride at Alton Towers, who both lost a leg in the accident, are suing the owners Merlin Entertainment for a reported £2 million. Both women were victims in the crash in 2015 and sustained life changing injuries. Miss Balch and Miss Washington were seated at the front of the ride when it crashed into a stationary carriage.

Miss Balch’s lawyers claim that the injuries sustained were due to ‘negligence and or breach of statutory duty’ by Merlin Attractions Operations Ltd.

The case is being heard in the High Court this week, and both are thought to receive £2million in compensation.
